Seems like something a Paladin-type would have access to. Perhaps consider adding the Diamond Mind maneuvers to the Crusader's list? I always felt those maneuvers were for a disciplined class, and defensive focused. And that's not even getting into White Raven-enhanced mass cavalry charges. They can guard each other ridiculously well, and even if you damage one, they can all heal each other while they beat you down. One benefit of this is that a battle-line of Crusaders becomes fucking scary in mass combat. There's a White Raven stance that grands bonuses against fear how about a feat to improve that stance to Aura of Courage? Why not have a feat that lets paladins store the healing from the 2 hp healed per attack, and use it as Lay on Hands? If there isn't a Stone Power stance that grants you the earth's resilience against poison and disease, there should be there should also be a feat that lets you share the stone's blessings. That way, you've got noviates who can only channel the divine force in fits and spurts of inspiration, but experienced Paladins (who take holy oaths, have additional restrictions, etc.) can go into the prestige class and gain extra divine damage to their Smite.Īnother option is, instead of paladin bonuses, make Crusader feats that simulate them. They're Controllers, not Strikers their job is to always have the chance to do something nasty and day-ruining for any given foe.Īlso, their ability to rock two-handed weapons and not miss the shield due to the Wisdom AC bonus is also handy.įinally, consider having a Paladin prestige class for the crusader.
On the other hand, if you're a Desert Wind-specialized swordsage fighting salamanders, you're a bit boned.
That is to say, if they can bust out with an Emerald Razor on the guy in plate, then next round move, Sudden Leap into position, and use a Mountain Hammer while in Assassin's Stance, then Counter Charge, they're excellent. Swordsages actually do pretty well with partial BAB, if they can use their maneuvers tactically.
